Not everyone likes tribute records and I can see why. Most of them are mediocre bands doing half-ass renditions of one time classic material. I hate those tributes. But then once in a while one comes along that smashes all memories of those horrible tributes and gets the blood boiling, helping rekindle the feelings we had inside for those original songs when we first heard them. The Dio tribute is an excellent one that should be purchased by fans of Ronnie James Dio. Some of progressive metal's best acts rock out in a big way as they take command of classic Ronnie James Dio material from his Black Sabbath, Rainbow and solo days. HammerFall does a solid version of "Man on the Silver Mountain", Blind Guardian shreds on the superb "Don't Talk to Strangers" and Enola Gay does justice to "Heaven and Hell". Other acts like Gamma Ray, Doro and Primal Fear all take stabs at covering Dio, all pulling it off quite nicely. Fan of Dio? Then check this out and relive his glorious metal past.
