Much like _Nordic Warchants_, this is a compilation of underground pagan metal bands, with the advantage of being released by a tiny label with none of their own bands to promote. Nor is it biased towards any particular locality, featuring artists from Ireland to Russia. Admittedly, it doesn't feature artists outside of Europe, but pagan / folk metal never managed to establish itself elsewhere, even in America.
The biggest names featured are probably Forefather, Folkearth and Skyforger, but hardly on the scale of a Finntroll or Ensiferum. Other names such as Sirocco or Irminsul are unlikely to resonate with any but the most ardent fan of the genre. As with most compilations, the quality is patchy, from Tharaphita's raging "Lidsetel Sunkjatel Radadel" through to the amateurish "Hugin og Munin" by Galar. The balance is in favour of the good and worthwhile rather then the narcoleptic and the annoying. Anyone with a liking for this style will discover at least one or two bands worth checking out. I know I did.
