Merciless Terror - _Deeds of Inhumanity_
by: Aly Hassab El Naby (1.5 out of 5)
Nottingham's Merciless Terror is a young metal quartet and _Deeds of Inhumanity_ is their first release. Their music can fit under the thrash metal moniker, but I hardly think they can be called a grind band with this effort. My reasoning is simple and it is as follows: there are two attempts at blast beats on this offering, on "Exiled to Suffer" and "Descend Into the Void", and they're both sub-par. Blast beats are essential in grind-oriented music and this level of precision will actually be detrimental to Merciless Terror's sound in the future. However, the guitars and vocals are a couple of notches better. The chorus riff on the opener "Deeds of Inhumanity" stands as the most interesting moment of this demo. The drummer must improve in the future because he doesn't seem to be pulling his own weight. The guitars and the vocals sound fine for me, although a little ordinary. I tend to give the drums a listen of their own, since I happen to be a humble player myself, and sloppy drumming always strikes me as odd as a rainy day in Cairo. A lot of work still needs to be done or this group from the Midlands will stay in the Midlands because _Deeds of Inhumanity_ just falls short.
