Bestia - _Oiglaste Tulek_
by: Quentin Kalis (3.5 out of 5)
Bestia's three track demo is ostensibly Viking metal, an idea generated through the song titles, faux rune script and booklet photography. But the songs feature a noticeable departure form Viking norms, through exhibiting a significant death metal influence. This influence is limited to a few borderline riffs and some grunts in the first song, but is far more pronounced on the second song. The third track is called the "The Sound of Chainsaw". I imagine the cheesy Metalucifer-esque title is the reason why it is listed as a bonus track -- somehow, chainsaw samples don't fit in with their atavistic image.

Although Bestia show definite promise and it is hard to gain an accurate picture of this Estonian band from such a few tracks, the lack of internal consistency indicates these metal einherjar need to work towards a more cohesive sound.
