Clawn's debut full-length was recorded at different occasions between 2002 and 2004, which would explain the annoying but understandable variable volume level and sound quality. This causes the songs to sound quite different at a superficial level, but most of the definitive and core aspects remain intact, providing some much needed coherence. The uniform approach consists of songs which contain tightly packed riffs and minimal changes, topped with a dollop of sludge that produces a repetitive yet effective brutal death / grind assault. Songs are short, but still a bit on the long side for this style, with variety provided by a few militaristic touches. Vocals remain the standard alternations between a screech and deeper growl, but their major problem remains the unstable calibre of the recording mentioned previously. Hopefully, Clawn will have the opportunity to record their next album at a single location and provide a more cohesive listen.
