Monoliyth - _Imminent Demise_
(Independent, 2008)
by: Quentin Kalis (7 out of 10)
The down-under based Monoliyth present an... um, monolithic wall of death metal as brutal as it is raw. Complexity is not the name of the game here, and their compositions are shortish, averaging around three minutes, the vocals alternating between the usual throaty growls and higher pitched shrieks. The recording level is a bit soft, but this can be attributed to the self-production and is not incongruent with their brand of brutality. They do not present anything vaguely groundbreaking, not even to death metal newbies, but they do possess a vitality that surpasses and sustains an otherwise predictable performance.
