To a large extent, the band's prolificness is reflected in the eight songs making up _Buried Death_. It's not that they're half assed or lacking in intensity, just fairly indistinguishable, or traditional to a fault. Guitarist Uchino kicks up a pretty heady sludge fest, but as a singer he's about as generic as they come. And while there's little variation in pacing, Coffins definitely give the impression that _Buried Death_ would have succeeded in a more substantial manner if they'd leaned a little more heavily on the doom and cut back on the nondescript death metal flourishes. Not a bust by any means, but that said I don't see Coffins coming off the bench anytime soon.
