Reviews in other, and by implication, inferior publications will inevitably describe El Soter as "the Slovene Marilyn Manson / The Kovenant". Yes, he does perform industrial metal and does have an unusual, if dubious fashion sense, but this is a rather lazy basis for comparison and located at a different spot along the industrial-goth metal spectrum.
_Appletree of Discord_ is considerably muted for a genre that presumably has an eye on the dance-floor at "alternative" nightclubs; however, it's not the spare use of industrial dance effects that will keep this away from the dance floor, but the depressive songs.
[As an aside, this is described as the "audio-visual project", a self-coined description which I would normally describe as pretentious puffery, were it not for the included video of "The Hail". I need not go into the details of the video; suffice to say that it is far removed from the clumsy angles of "live-in-the-basement / forest" videos for the YouTube market.]
