Mead drinkers and battle re-enactors are urged not to get excited about this, as the debut from these Finns consists of four tracks of "extreme doom" (i.e. doom as slow and ponderous as it can be before becoming funeral) totalling 50 minutes.
Rather than death, it seems the more traditional forms have been mutated into this monstrous expedition, but that hardly rescues it from the increasingly unhelpful "extreme doom" tag. (Was it ever helpful?) All the term conveys is that this is as slow and tortured as doom gets before crossing the Rubicon into funeral and drone.
As with a lot of this species of beast, after a while it all kind of blurs into one homogeneous blob of crunch and fuzz, plus the slowly lumbering metre combined with the extended lengths of each individual track often meant that I found myself losing the thread about three-quarters of the way through. This is not helped by the vocals, which sound forced and overdue. Although it is an acceptable debut, work is needed on writing more focused songs and doing something about those vocals.
