Steel Rider - _Eat the Monster_
(Victor Victor Music, 2007)

This was recorded some twenty years ago, and had it not been for interest shown by MTV's "Real World", it might never have seen the light of day.

Steel Rider performs hard rock bordering on heavy metal, akin to Def Leppard, Alice Cooper and Bon Jovi, and had this been released a few decades ago when the aforementioned where at their commercial and artistic peak, it might have found a following. In 2008, it just sounds dated. This could have been overlooked if the compositions were more dynamic, but the songs plod along with little variance in tempo. The drumming sounds like it was programmed, and is very basic. The guitars sound rather thin, as do the songs in general -- nor are there are anthemic numbers that this style is renowned for.

I can understand why this remained unrevealed for so long, as it just isn't any good and the mastermind behind Steel Rider has presumably improved his musicianship and compositional skills since then.
