The Profane would not engage in sophistry or diplomacy, but would get straight to the point, thus it is only apt that I do the same. _Chaosbreed_ filters death metal through the musty haze of down and dirty rock 'n' roll, unburdened by any high-falutin' concepts and (presumably) fuelled by coma-inducing amounts of JDs and SoCos.
The songs are fairly straightforward but catchy and with a sufficient gritty production to provide just the right amount of filth. Highlights include "Death Squad" with a bluesy harmonica and "Drowning Shit" (I didn't call this lowbrow for nothing) with a '50s rock 'n' roll touch. If it weren't for the vocals, which are a modified high-pitched shout, this may just appeal to rock fans as well as metal fans. Those in the mood for straightforward heavy rock will enjoy this, as will fans of Gehenna's drunken shitkickin' hi-jinks.
