Evergreen Terrace - _Wolfbiker_
(Metal Blade Records, 2007)
by: Jackie Smit (5 out of 10)
The last time Evergreen Terrace beguiled us with their metallic prowess was on 2004's aptly titled _Writer's Block_, a collection of covers that included some admittedly amusing reinterpretations of Tears for Fears and Smashing Pumpkins cuts. Fast forward to their Metal Blade debut, and there's very little evidence of that ability to exhilarate on offer. Sorry, check that -- the song titles are amusing. You can't help but smile at a band who has the wit to call a song "Chaney Can't Quite Riff Like Helmet's Page Hamilton".

As for the tracks themselves, they're predominantly of the baggy-trouser screamo-cum-hardcore variety, and it's true that when this quintet open the 12oz can of whoop-ass, they can throw bombs with the best of 'em. The trouble is that for the majority of the time, they're just another plain old uninspiring name on the mallcore's hairgel-caked register.
