Crystalmoors - Antiqvum Exqvirite Matrem
Since _Nabia Orebia_ was recorded, Crystalmoors have changed their style from pagan metal blackened around the edges towards a more complex and engaging mix of death, black and Celtic folk, with a pinch of the melodic and the epic. The shift in style is subtle compared to the transformation in other departments, however.

Despite enough diversity in the catalog to mandate that nearly every individual has their particular fave, you'd be hard pressed to find anyone who believes the band have ever made a clear misstep. "Until now", you probably expect me to say.

Soulfly - Conquer
Forget the fact that Soulfly's last record, 2005's _Dark Ages_, already presented a healthy return to form -- this ornery beast renders it positively mundane by comparison.

Melencolia Estatica - Letum
Female vocals have been frowned upon in true black metal circles ever since Cradle of Filth made it to the big time. But although their vocals fully handled by the raven-haired lady Climaxia, Italy's Melencolia Estatica will still no doubt be a treat for any Mayhem devotee.

The Banner - Frailty
Promising to strip away the guff that prevented their Ferret debut, _Every Breath Haunted_, from being the breakout release it could have been, _Frailty_ finds The Banner in mean spirits.
