Naildown - _Dreamcrusher_
(Spinefarm, 2007)
by: Nikola Shahpazov (5 out of 10)
Naildown aim at quality by simply ignoring genre boundaries, thus creating a hybrid sound with just about everything in. Be it heavy, Gothenburg death, black or even complex progressive metal, one's bound to find it with a certain level of consistency somewhere in _Dreamcrusher_. Speedy, adrenaline-pumping sections give way to mid-tempo parts, just as melodic solos follow straightforward chugging riffs upon a backdrop of keyboards.

Neatly composed and well executed though it might be however, Naildown's second effort is hardly mindblowing. It's one of those albums that are not quite good enough to keep one's attention after the fourth track is over, and it might as well turn into background music before it reaches its closing chapter "The New Wave". Diversity doesn't necessarily mean originality, as _Dreamcrusher_ clearly exemplifies.
