Absentia Lunae - _Historia Nobis Assentietvr_

The Mediterranean outfit perform self-penned "black warlike" metal, a mixture of the uncompromising relentlessness of Aussies Bestial Warlust and Destroyer 666 with the tightly-packed riffs and vestigial melody of Mayhem's _Wolf's Lair Abyss_. Speaking of the legendary Norsemen, the drummer is known as Blastphemer (hur hur). He's good enough to get away with the silly alias of his choosing, but his skills would be better served in a technical death metal context. Membership also includes keymaster MZ, whose primary contribution is an impressive intro that combines Western classical grandeur with post-modern Japanoise. Occasional tattoos punctuate the drumming, reminding the listener of their putative military flavour, but it is their inexorable, take no prisoners approach that justifies the "warlike" moniker. Although the music is surprisingly intricate, it also runs the risk of boring the listener by overwhelming him, but those raised on a steady diet of Marduk, Arkhon Infaustus and Belphegor will consider this is a needless concern.
