Insect Warfare - _World Extermination_
(Earache Records, 2009)
by: Paul Williams (6 out of 10)
Insect Warfare play straight up simple grindcore with the whole idea of the world being destroyed by insects. So they pretty much combine two of my favourite things: 1) Grindcore, 2) "Gears of War". What more could I ask for?

Actually, they could do with being a bit less boring. Everything is played at full speed, maximum volume and with buckets of crunch to provide that proper grindcore sound, but after the first ten songs a thought hits you. "Holy shit, all of this sounds exactly same!" This is some good grind and the band pull it off quite well, but the lack of memorable grooves or riffs is way too apparent and leaves the listener yawning. _World Extermination_ proves that Insect Warfare can play the music they like, but not that they can produce anything that brings something new to the table.
