Capitollium - _Bloodfall of Flesh_
(Sworn Records, 2008)
by: Chaim Drishner (7.5 out of 10)
Capitollium exercise a potent brand of ultra melodic, semi-symphonic black metal with a strong dark death metal etiquette, manifested through the riffs and the arrangements. On the other hand, the band's songwriting talents surpass the average and make _Bloodfall of Flesh_ a rather unique display of skill, imagination and ingenuity rarely found within the realm of melodic black metal. Bewaring as to not to fall into clichés and redundant pomposity, Cappitollium keep the music interesting, powerful and dynamic throughout the album's length, in such a way even the most melodic (read: non-metal) parts -- that often are prone to at least a certain amount of ridicule by purists -- sound menacing, dark and overpowering. An excellent and quite singular a release by one of today's melodic black metal's finest bands. Highly recommended.
