Grimlord - _Blood Runneth Over_
(Independent, 2007)
by: Quentin Kalis (4 out of 10)
Sounding neither imperial nor grim, the Polish newcomers perform a classic and slightly dated style of heavy / power metal, with no small Maiden influence. They are pretty adept as musicians, which is overshadowed by the incompetent vocals. The vocalist sings with possibly the strongest accent I have ever heard on an album, and is highly distracting. Switching to his native tongue would be of little use, as his the vocals are weak to begin with. For whats it's worth, they do appear to be reasonably comfortable using English; it's just the heavy accent that's the problem. Until the vocalist improves drastically or is replaced, Grimlord have little hope of breaking free of independent purgatory.
