Olive - _Farewell: Doom_
(Independent, 2007)
by: Quentin Kalis (7 out of 10)
Like fellow Syrians Slumpark Correctional, doomsters Olive have taken a turn down the path well-travelled and are now focusing on "alternative metal". As not so subtly suggested by the title, this one track single is the band's last goodbye to the genre they have now abandoned.

Some acoustic strumming introduces the song before distorted guitars, percussion and growls fade in. A repetitive and mournful riff is played for a further two minutes, before fading out. As a real song this fails miserably, but would succeed as an album closer -- or in this instance, as the end of the first chapter of their musical career.
