CoC : Nyctophobic - Insects : Review

I had always heard, read, and to an extent believed that Nyctophobic were a referential grindcore band among this rather happily thriving and over-productive scene. Well, Nyctophobic -are- grindcore -- and that's about it. Offering material fairly reminiscent of early Extreme Noise Terror, _Insects_ is the recording of a bunch of metalheads indulging in a chaotic grunt 'n' grind session, and unfortunately displays not much more than the interest to match. Nyctophobic are fun and appealing for three tracks, but by the time track four starts, you'll more than likely be reaching for the genuine works themselves, such as Extreme Noise Terror's _A Holocaust in Your Head_ or Napalm Death's _From Enslavement to Obliteration_. Sad, really -- had we now been slowly heading towards the cold days of Winter 1983, Nyctophobic's latest spawn would have been welcomed as an interesting and innovative effort; but we're not, and therefore, neither is _Insects_.
