Capitollium - _Bloodfall of Flesh_
(Sworn Records, 2008)
by: Chaim Drishner (7.5 out of 10)
Capitollium exercise a potent brand of ultra melodic, semi-symphonic black metal with a strong dark death metal etiquette, manifested through the riffs and the arrangements. On the other hand, the band's songwriting talents surpass the average and make _Bloodfall of Flesh_ a rather unique display of skill, imagination and ingenuity rarely found within the realm of melodic black metal. Bewaring as to not to fall into clich├ęs and redundant pomposity, Cappitollium keep the music interesting, powerful and dynamic throughout the album's length, in such a way even the most melodic (read: non-metal) parts -- that often are prone to at least a certain amount of ridicule by purists -- sound menacing, dark and overpowering. An excellent and quite singular a release by one of today's melodic black metal's finest bands. Highly recommended.
