Loits - _Must Album_
(Nailboard Records, 2007)
by: Quentin Kalis (6.5 out of 10)
Loits are generally regarded as the premier Estonian metal band, and are certainly one of the more popular acts -- their previous album, _Vere Kutse Kohustab_, is the all-time best seller on Lithuania's Ledo Takas Records. They originally started life as a pagan black metal band, but sometime during the course of their career they shifted towards "militant flak 'n' roll", a colourful term for what is essentially blackened rock, not dissimilar to a more complex Khold.

Some moments are rockier than others; "Ei Kahetse Midagi" contains a memorable rock rhythm that would not be out of place amongst the shitkicker death of Gehenna. Other songs, such as the rousing closer "Oolaul", are indebted to their black origins. Surprisingly, quite a few riffs could have been taken from Satyricon's glory days, whereas I would have expected latter day Satyricon to have a stronger influence.

Overall, I cannot say this is an entirely horrible album, but neither is it nearly as original as their hyperbolic, self-coined description. _Vere Kutse Kohustab_ may have been an excellent album, but this is hardly a must have. (Sorry!)
